Downtown Colorado, Inc. aims to build better communities by providing assistance to downtowns, commercial districts, and town centers throughout the state of Colorado.
Through all of our services and programs, we use a "train the trainer" approach to ensure that our partners can sustain their progress for long-term success. Communities are given strategies, action plans, and the resources they need to continue on a steady path to sustainability.
DCI ADVISORY SUCCESSES:
The Colorado Challenge Accelerator Program is a unique team building accelerator created by Downtown Colorado, Inc. (DCI) to focus on establishing a plan of work and proposal to engages public, private, and non-profit partners to address a significant community challenge over the course of twelve months.
The Colorado Challenge works to transform the community’s challenge into an opportunity, to establish a proposal, financing approach, and team of community partners ready to implement. The program includes five phases of planning and development that helps our Colorado communities establish a plan for community-wide initiatives to foster sustainable community and economic development, including public, private, and non-profit partners moving forward as a business-friendly destination for entrepreneurs and community initiatives. The phases include Community Selection, Team Building, Challenge Studio, Pitch Development, and Program Continuation.

Every community in Colorado is different. DCI creates tailored programs specific to your unique challenges. Our network of experts and consultants have helped organizations develop strategies and action plans for business district development, affordable housing, brownfield development, urban renewal, marketing and communications, regional attraction for tourism, board training and retreats, capacity building, resource development, and more.
Technical Assistance Advisory Teams use a proven model to provide community members with guidance and planning around moving forward with their vision. After initial consultation, DCI taps into our broad pool of Business Associate Members to find the skills our communities need for each project. DCI then aligns advisory teams with the right resources and timing to complete each project. DCI then outlines an action plan based on existing assets and partners already active in the community.
AmeriCorps VISTA is a paid one-year service program administered by DCI that aims to build the capacity of public and non-profit organizations. AmeriCorps VISTAs live in communities to make connections between local businesses and local governments, develop innovative processes, conduct research, and develop promotional materials for their sites.
These workshops bring together communities and experts in housing finance, programs, and development for facilitated a dialogue about resources and strategic plans for housing development. Attendees connect, share ideas, learn new methods, and come up with effective and appropriate solutions to create a stock of housing that reflects a community’s needs and values.
DCI accepts interest letters from communities, non-profits, or small business looking for help in driving downtown community and economic development initiatives. DCI helps towns and organizations develop a clear approach for moving forward and building momentum around your community needs.
