DCI has been working with a state-wide coalition to develop a comprehensive survey process to determined the impacts on businesses, business support organizations, and our BIDs, DDAs, and URAs to help shape the response and reopening process for our state. The three surveys together will allow us to develop a picture of impacts by county, region, and state.

A special thank you to our DCI Members + Board, National Research Center/POLCO, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), and other state agencies and associations for helping to shape these surveys.

Statewide Survey Results

We are hoping to reach all businesses in Colorado to understand how the COVID crisis has impacted them. DCI and the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) have been promoting the survey on their social media channels, but we want to be sure your local area is fully included too! Tips on how to share the survey and instructions on how to access results for your local area, can be found here. Or just share this direct link to the survey with your local businesses.

Some communities or regions may have already sent out a survey to their local businesses. We would like to have a complete picture of Colorado, so if you are willing to share a second survey that would be great. You can emphasize that this is for a statewide effort and may cover new topics. If you don't feel comfortable reaching out to businesses again, we understand and would ask if possible that you share results with us by emailing

Please take a moment to complete the following survey(s) as applicable.

We recognize that some of our DCI members are a combination of local government, special district, and non-profit and that you might need to respond to two surveys, but we want to be sure and capture all that you are doing.

DCI MEMBER SURVEY OPTIONS INCLUDE (choose as many as applicable):

A special survey for business support organizations, 501 c (3,4,6) including Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Councils, and non-profit entities that partner to support business, Creative Districts, and Main Street Programs. This survey will focus on tracking the types of support being offered and will help us compare to identify gaps in service.

Business Support Organizations Survey

DCI is working to understand the impacts on BIDs, DDAs, and URAs due to COVID 19. These questions are aligned to a similar survey sent out by DOLA, CML, CCI, and SDA to many local governments. DCI wants to make sure that our BID, DDA, URA members voices are heard, so please respond so we can share this with our partners at DOLA.

BID, DDA, URA Survey

How do residents feel about reopening their communities? How has their spending changed and what will be the "new normal"? National Research Center has developed a survey for you to share with your residents and get feedback on their readiness to reopen their communities and re-engage in their economies. The questions were developed by research experts and the survey is free to deploy to your community on Polco.

Resident Readiness Survey

Boulder Example
Boulder released their resident readiness survey between May 8th and May 18th and received over 1,000 responses.
The Downtown Boulder Partnership spearheaded the distribution of the survey by sending it out to their database; sharing on social media;  asking business owners to share the survey with their customers;  asking the City of Boulder, Boulder Chamber and Boulder Convention and Visitors Bureau to share the survey with their constituents as well.
